This coin illustrated in Meshorer & Qedar 1991 (as reference coin, not from hoard) on Plate 5, no. 37 & described on p. 51 as one of the two examples of type 37, both from "Private Collection 1" (P1. 922 [0.54g] & 959 [0.60g]). The first specimen (P1. 922) is marked as the "plate coin" but based on weights, this coin is probably P1. 959.

They are copies made for Bergen Privatbank in 1955 for their 100 anniversary. This is documented by other examples found in tankards given away as gifts, They all have this coin in the lid. Die studies also show that these are not indenticall to other - genuine examples - of the half speciedaler 1855. The portrait is to shallow engraved. The hair is not correct. The letters in the legends are of a different type. The 55 in 1855 is not any way like the 55 in the originals. The axe blade is engraved in a different manner than the original. Even the silver alloy is different from the originals. How these made it into a NGC holder is a mystery.
